You have reached the web site of the St. Mary's County Maryland Sheriff's Office, the oldest Sheriff's Office in the State of Maryland, and one of the first in the nation.

St. Mary's County Maryland is comprised of approximately 367 square miles, with a resident population of approximately 101,578, which increases to 127,000 with the inclusion of daily commuters and tourists. Sites of interest in our county include Historic Saint Mary's City (the first capital of Maryland), Point Lookout (the location of Camp Hoffman, the prison camp for Confederate soldiers), and the Patuxent River Naval Air Station (home of the U.S. Navy's Test Pilot School).

On behalf of the hard working men and women of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, I am pleased to welcome you to our web site.  I hope that you find it informative, and that it displays the pride that we have in our Sheriff's Office.
