Crime Report for April 28, 2008
On April 18, 2008 at 1357
hours, Deputy Michael Campbell responded to a residence in Mechanicsville for
the report of a violation of a protective order.
The investigation revealed Bradley V. Buckler, age 29 of Great Mills,
telephoned the victim several times in a harassing manner in violation of a
Protective Order issued by the District Court.
Contact was made with Buckler who was placed under arrest without
incident. Buckler was
incarcerated in the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the
District Court Commissioner.
On April 18, 2008, Senior Deputy First Class Robert
Russell and Deputy Michael Licausi responded to the area of St. George Island for the report of trespassing.
The investigation revealed Richard L. Taylor, age 18 of Valley Lee, and
Alissa M Bishop, age 18 of Valley Lee, entered upon the posted private property
of the victim without permission.
Both were arrested, charged with Trespassing on Posted Private Property, and
transported to the Detention Center
pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
On April 22, 2008 at 1515
hours, Deputy Jaime Reithmeyer responded to the Family Dollar in Leonardtown for
the report of a theft. The
investigation revealed Angela L. Newton, age 18 of
Hollywood, entered the business, removed items from the
display and placed them in her purse.
Newton then exited the business without
rendering payment for the items. Newton was issued a
Criminal Citation for Theft Under $100.00 and released pending an appearance in
District Court.
On April 22, 2008 at 2022
hours, Deputy First Class William Rishel responded to the report of a
disturbance on Pegg Lane in Lexington Park.
The investigation revealed David L. Garrison, age 48 of Lexington Park, was causing a disturbance in front
of his residence on Pegg Lane.
As Deputy First Class Rishel approached Garrison, he fled on foot to the
rear of the residence. As Garrison
reached the wood line he suddenly stopped and turned towards the deputy.
He was given several verbal commands to drop the items in his hands and
provide identification. Garrison
refused and lunged at the deputy.
Garrison was subsequently subdued after struggling with the officer and then
began spitting at Deputy First Class Rishel. Garrison
was transported to the Detention
Center where he was
incarcerated pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
On April 22, 2008 at approximately 2045 hours, a
male and female were walking through a wooded area near Timber Valley Court in Lexington Park
when they were confronted by three men, one of which displayed a handgun and
demanded money. The male victim was
struck on the head with the gun and the female victim’s purse was taken before
all three suspects fled. In the
early morning hours of April
23, 2008, Bureau of Criminal Investigations Detectives arrested
Zachary Allan Kiger, age 19 of no fixed address, and Cordell Rayshawn Mackall,
age 19 of Lexington Park. Both
were charged with Armed Robbery and Theft and incarcerated at the St. Mary’s
County
Detention
Center. The
third suspect described as a black male with a heavy build is still at large.
The investigation is continuing.
Neither victim required medical attention.
On April 23, 2008 at approximately 0530 hours,
deputies responded to Elegant Court
in Lexington Park for the reported home invasion.
The two occupants of the home reported two black males, wearing dark
clothing, broke into their home through a rear door.
Once inside the male occupant confronted the intruders and a struggle
ensued. The suspects then fled.
There were no serious injuries reported.
Bureau of Criminal Investigations
Detectives are currently investigating the incident.
On April 23, 2008 at 0750
hours, Deputy First Class John Kirkner responded to Valley Drive Estates in Lexington Park for the report of an assault.
The investigation revealed Shanita Williams, age 31 of
Lexington Park, and Joseph D. Young, age 37 of Lexington Park, were involved in a verbal dispute
which escalated into a physical altercation.
Williams and Young began assaulting each other inside the residence.
Both subjects received minor injuries in the altercation.
Williams and Young were placed under arrest, charged with Assault Second
Degree and incarcerated in the
Detention
Center pending an
appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
On April 8, 2008, Bureau of Criminal
Investigations Detectives initiated an investigation at the St. Mary's County
Detention
Center after information
was received inmates were plotting to escape. Detectives
discovered several inmates had conspired together and attempted to escape from a
secured area of the Detention Center. The
details of the method in which this was performed are not being released at this
time. During the investigation
detectives conducted a search of the confined area which revealed signs of
damage to the structure. On April
21 and 24, 2008, Bureau of Criminal Investigations Detectives charged
the following individuals with Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Escape and
Malicious Destruction of Property Over $500: Antonio
Warren Gantt, who was incarcerated for Bank Robbery and other related charges,
Johnnie William Raines and Christopher Allen Williams, who were both
incarcerated for Burglaries and other related charges at the time of the
attempted escape. Additional inmates
have charges pending.
On April 24, 2008, Bureau of Criminal
Investigations Detectives arrested Ryan Joseph Rice, age 19 of Mechanicsville,
and charged him with Burglary, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Destruction of Property,
three counts of Theft and five counts of Burglary to Motor Vehicle.
The charges stemmed from a Bureau of
Criminal Investigations investigation into April 21, 2008 thefts from motor vehicles in Birch Manor in
Mechanicsville and an April
22, 2008 burglary, theft from motor vehicle and theft of a motor
vehicle on Harpers Corner Road
in Mechanicsville. Additional charges
are pending. Rice was incarcerated at
the St. Mary’s County
Detention
Center.
On April 25, 2008 at 0746
hours, Senior Deputy First Class Kevin Somerville responded to a residence in
Mechanicsville for the report of a violation of a Protective Order.
The investigation revealed Antown L. Clark, age 23 of Clements, had
repeatedly telephoned the victim and harassed her after receiving a Protective
Order issued by the District Court.
Contact was made with Clark
and he was placed under arrest.
Clark was transported to the Detention Center, charged with Violation of a Protective Order
and Telephone Misuse and incarcerated in the Detention Center
pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
On April 25, 2008 at 1438
hours, Senior Deputy First Class David Corcoran responded to the Wal-Mart Store
in California for the report
of a theft. The investigation revealed Matthew A. Prinsen, age 22 of Hollywood, entered the
Wal-Mart Store and concealed items on his person.
Prinsen then exited the store without rendering payment for the items
valued at $31.88. Prinsen was
detained by store security personnel pending the arrival of Senior Deputy First
Class Corcoran. Prinsen was issued
a Criminal Citation and released on his personal recognizance pending a hearing
in District Court.
On April 25, 2008 at 1503
hours, Deputy First Class Charles Dodson responded to Great Mills Court in Great Mills for the
report of a subject tampering with a SMECO Electric Meter.
The investigation revealed SMECO disconnected the electrical service for
non-payment. Upon inspection of the
meter, it was determined the meter had been reconnected.
Deputy First Class Dodson located Raechel J. Karl, age 24, and a Criminal
Citation was issued to Karl for Theft Under $500.00.
On April 25, 2008 at 1836
hours, Deputy First Class Shaun Carberry responded to a business on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park
for the report of a Violation of a Peace Order.
The investigation revealed Amy B. Greenwell, age 29 of Great Mills, had
continually harassed the victim after being served a Peace Order by the District
Court. Greenwell was located,
placed under arrest for Violation of a Peace Order, and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the
District Court Commissioner.
