Claiming Stored Property
The Property Unit personnel maintain all property and evidence coming into possession of the Sheriff’s Office. The Property Unit currently maintains over 100,000 pieces of property and is subject to unannounced inspections to ensure items are being properly stored and accounted for. The unit utilizes a modern barcode system to maintain accountability of property to include high value items such as firearms, cash and controlled dangerous substances.
Citizens with questions regarding property being held by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office may contact the Property Unit at 301-475-4200 ext. 2238. The Property Unit’s hours of operation are Monday – Friday 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
