Traffic Safety Unit
The Traffic Safety Unit was established in 1995 and is dedicated to improving traffic safety through education and enforcement. Unit members are trained in advanced collision investigation, child safety seat inspection and installation, radar, laser, sobriety checkpoint management, and police motor operations. In addition to enforcement responsibilities, members support a variety of traffic-related initiatives to include:
- Maryland Automated Accident Report Review
- Agency Tow Service Program
- Abandoned Vehicle
- Taxi Cab Licensing
- Special Event Permit Review
- Maryland Law Enforcement Challenge
- Drive to Survive (Provides educational safe driving habits to young drivers)
- School Bus Automated Enforcement Program
