DRC Training

The Training Officer is responsible for locating training, processing training requests for submission through the chain of command, maintaining up-to-date training records for all Correctional Officers, Professional Staff, contractual staff, and volunteer staff, submission of In-Service Program Approval Applications to the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commissions (MPCTC), entering data into training software database, maintaining training profiles for each course approved by MPCTC for SMCDRC instruction, transmittal of training records quarterly and annually, as required, ensuring all instructors receive the training necessary to maintain his/her instructor certification, ensuring all mandated staff has received the minimum number of hours to maintain his/her certification. Responsible to the Administrative Captain. All training will be documented in the Skills Manager software, and hard copies will be kept in an easily accessible location.
