Systems Administration


The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Systems Administration personnel are responsible for implementing, configuring, and managing critical information systems and data analysis tools that support law enforcement operations. This division oversees the agency’s crime data analysis platforms and geospatial software, ensuring that deputies and command staff have access to accurate, real-time information for decision-making and crime prevention.

Through the supervision of skilled professionals, including a Systems Administrator and Crime Data Analysts, personnel analyze and track crime data to identify suspects, detect crime patterns and trends, and produce various intelligence reports, including geographical heat maps. By leveraging advanced technology and data-driven solutions, Systems Administration plays a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency, optimizing resource allocation, and proactively addressing emerging threats.

The division is responsible for integrating disparate data sources into actionable intelligence and developing crime dashboards. Systems Administration also liaises with the Department of Information and Technology to ensure law enforcement data systems are appropriately configured, maintained, and updated.

Additionally, the Systems Administration provides strategic recommendations to the Sheriff and command staff on emerging technologies, data analysis tools, and best practices to enhance crime reduction efforts. This division ensures the Sheriff’s Office remains at the forefront of modern law enforcement operations through innovation and technology-driven solutions.
