Patrol Community Services is a vital part of the Patrol Division, dedicated to fostering strong partnerships between law enforcement and the community. This section focuses on proactive policing and engagement strategies tailored to address the unique needs of each district. Under Patrol Community Services, four District Commanders are assigned to quadrants of St. Mary’s County, each responsible and responsive to the specific concerns of their communities.
District Commanders lead efforts to build trust, enhance communication, and address public safety challenges through collaboration with residents, businesses, schools, and faith leaders. They oversee specialized programs such as the COPS Unit, Mental Health Liaison, and Canine Program, while also managing district operations, facilities, and resources. Supported by a dedicated crime analyst, commanders use data-driven strategies to monitor crime trends, deploy resources effectively, and present findings during planning and CompStat meetings.
With a focus on visibility, engagement, and accountability, Patrol Community Services ensures that public safety efforts remain adaptive, responsive, and committed to creating safer, more connected neighborhoods.
